Targeted at business management students, Principles of Supply Chain Management is a one-semester course that introduces students to supply chains and the essential role of supply chain management in the flow of products, information, and finances from raw materials to finished products. Students examine types of supply chains, careers in supply chain management, and the five essential functions of supply chain management: planning, sourcing, making, delivering, and returning. Information management, operations, professional development, and strategic management concepts and skills are also addressed throughout the course.
Principles of Supply Chain Management features a variety of activities, resource lists, and hands-on, standards-based projects. (NOTE: Prior knowledge of introductory business and management content is strongly recommended as prerequisites to Principles of Supply Chain Management.)
